MERIDEN - James Salvatore Crispino, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2013, at Connecticut Baptist Home in Meriden. James was the beloved husband of the late Jean Oblon Crispino and he will now be able to spend eternity with her.
James was born in Meriden and lived here his entire life. He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He had to quit school at an early age to support his family but went on to live a full and rewarding life.
He was devoted to his children, Patricia Caliendo, of Cheshire, Joseph Crispino and his wife, Pam, of Meriden, Jackie Tetreault and her husband, Ed, of Berlin and Renee Andrzejczuk and her husband, Ted, of Southington. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Kevin, Joe, Amy, Brian and Allison; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney, James, Braedon, Will, John, Haley and Zachary. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Crispino, of Meriden; and two sisters, Anne Anderson, of Madison and Yolanda Cordone, of Cromwell. His family meant everything to him and to the day he died, he worried about their well being. He was a Veteran of World War II
, having served with the U.S. Army
in the Pacific Theatre of Operations (The Philippines). He had to leave his wife and first child and did not see them for four years, but he was always proud to have served his country. He spent almost his whole working life at International Silver Company of Meriden and retired in 1981. He then took up golf, bowling, playing pool at the Senior Center and enjoyed a life filled with love, family and friends.
The family would especially like to thank the entire staff at Connecticut Baptist for the excellent care and loving kindness they showed to our Dad.
