John A. Macri

CLOVERDALE, Calif. - John A. Macri, 71,son of the late John B. and Jennie (Ciurleo) Macri, passed from this life to the next on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 in Cloverdale, Calif.

Born March 1, 1942 in Meriden, Conn., he attended schools in Meriden, Bloomfield, and Buffalo. He joined the U.S. Marines and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. Moving to California, he married Martha Mitchell and had 3 children. He earned a master's degree in religion and taught that subject in high school. To support his family, John also repaired TVs, taught electronics, and wrote technical documentation for the telecommunication industry.

John had many hobbies including gardening, playing setback, writing, and making wine from his father's recipe. He interviewed couples about how they met and compiled their stories in a book. John touched many people with his kindness, generosity, and wit, helping many who needed someone to listen and volunteering many hours at charitable organizations.
He is survived by his children, Christopher (Shelly) Macri; Monique (Sedou) Aw; and Benjamin (Catherine) Macri; grandchildren, Austin, Chelsea, Joshua, Hannah, Rebecca, and Omar John; siblings, Mary, Rose, and Michael Macri; Anne (John) Morenz; and special friend, Meryl Dorey. He was predeceased by a sister.
