MERIDEN - John F. Stevens, 85, husband of Dorothy E. Stevens, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Waterbury, on July 13, 1928, John was married to his wife for 61 wonderful years, he resided in Meriden most of his life. John worked as a mechanic for many years then became a maintenance mechanic for Teleco Oil Fields where he finally retired, but found himself wanting to stay busy so he went to work part time for Target in Meriden. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict
. His hobbies included working on cars, smoking cigars, going to the casino, and building models, but most importantly his family was his world. John left a footprint on everyone and everything he touched. He will be missed tremendously; we would like to thank some very special family members who were with us during this time.
Besides his wife he is survived by his twin sister, Genevieve Gagne; daughter, Rebecca Fecteau and her husband, Michael; daughter, Kathy Lane; son, Ronald Stevens and his daughter, Mary Stevens; and a sister-in-law, Adeline Stevens. He is also survived by several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews who he loved very much. John is predeceased by his son, John D. Stevens; his brothers, Joe Stevens and Abraham Stevens; his sister, Teresa Aragi; his son-in-law, Aubrey David Lane; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Stevens.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 24, at 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, with Monsignor David George officiating. Burial will be private.
