WALLINGFORD- Lorraine E. Laden Ripa, 83, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at MidState Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Harry P. Ripa, Sr.
Born in North Haven, Jan. 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Richard Laden Sr., and the late Elizabeth Deastal Laden, she was a Wallingford resident for many years. Growing up, Lorraine loved riding horses on her parents' farm, skating in the New Haven Arena, and taking dance lessons with Janet Fabian Young. She had been employed by International Silver Co., the Oakdale Theater, and the Colony Construction Co. until her retirement. In later years, Lorraine's entire focus was on family. She was so very proud of her four grandchildren, and for an Irish girl, she learned to cook some pretty great Italian dishes. She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
Besides her husband Harry, Lorraine is survived by her sons, Harry Ripa Jr., of Bloomfield, Scott and his wife, Karen Platt Ripa and Gary and his wife, Karen Calabrese Ripa, all of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Kelly Valenti and her husband, Joseph, Adam Ripa, Kaley Ripa, and Cody Ripa; her great-grandson, Cooper Valenti; her brother, Richard Laden Jr.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jean Laden Madonna, Catherine Laden Remy and Gerald Laden.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St., Wallingford, Thursday, (TODAY), from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday from The Wallingford Funeral Home at 11 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
