Martin E. Ryan Sr.

SOUTHINGTON - Martin E. Ryan, Sr., 82, husband of Myra Spooner Ryan, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at Meriden Center after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on October 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Mary (Beyer) Ryan. He had resided in Cheshire and Wolcott and most recently resided in Southington, and had attended school in Meriden.

Mr. Ryan owned Ryan Disposal Company of Cheshire, and retired from Southwick & Meister Inc. of Meriden. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard at Arlington, and a past Mason and Shriner member.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Martin E. Ryan, Jr., and his wife, Doreen, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Lynn O'Neil, of Clearwater, Fla.; and a stepson, Myran Gapski, and his wife, Ann-Marie, of Wallingford. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Daphne, Erin, Raeanne, Adrian, Kevin, Amy, and Allison; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, is entrusted with arrangements.
