Richard W. Wollenberg

MERIDEN - Richard W. Wollenberg, 77, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at MidState Medical Center.

He was born May 30, 1935, in Meriden, a son of the late Adam and Adolfine (Renn) Wollenberg. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was proud to work for the City of Meriden, Engineering Department. Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved sports; playing for the Meriden Woodbees Slowpitch Softball team or watching the Boston Red Sox or Brooklyn Dodger games. He also loved to go fishing and tending to his garden.

Dick is survived by two sisters, Marilyn Kronenberger and Ruth Tozier, both of Meriden; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Wollenberg, of Bristol and Helen Wollenberg, of Florida; many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; friends; and his best friend, Jerry Stasiewski. He was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfried and Raymond Wollenberg.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. The Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden has been entrusted with the arrangements.
