Rinaldo F. Brino

SOUTHINGTON - Rinaldo F. Brino, 89, of Southington passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Summit of Plantsville. He was the husband of Immacolata (Mauro) Brino for 61 years.

He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Caiazzo, Province of Caserta, Italy, the son of the late Pasquale and Maria (D'Agostino) Brino. Rinaldo served with the Italian Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was employed by Ideal Forging Corp. for many years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a member of the St. Maria Degli Angeli Society. He loved to be in his garden, making wine, telling his stories to his family and friends and dancing at parties.

Besides his wife he leaves his children, Mary Sgueglia and husband, Giovanni, of Schenectady, N.Y., Gina Ganther and husband, John, of Delanson, N.Y. and Pasquale (Pat) Brino and wife, Linda, of Southington; seven grandchildren, John, Lisa, Cristina, John David, Nicholas, James and Andrew; four great-grandchildren, Gianna, Niara, Alex, and Nadia; two brothers, Paolo Brino, of Southington and Alberto Brino, of Broadalbin, N.Y.; five sisters, Elvira Sangiovanni, of Scotia, N.Y., Josephine Roberts, of Las Vegas, Nev., Perina Guzzo, of Scotia, N.Y., Theresa Torre, of Niagara Falls, N.., and Rosa Silvestro, of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gino and Angelo Brino.

The funeral will be held on Monday, 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Entombment will be at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY.
