Rocco J. Torrente

MERIDEN - Rocco J. Torrente, 86, of Meriden, husband of the late Gloria (Carlozzi) Torrente, died on Monday, May 6, 2013, at MidState Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 3, 1926, the son of the late Joseph and Antonia (Matese) Torrente, he had resided in Meriden for the past ten years. He was a graduate of The Academy of Aeronautics, New York, N.Y. and was employed by the City of New York as a building inspector for some 22 years, retiring as chief elevator plans examiner. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in Pacific Theatre of Operations.

Mr. Torrente is survived by two sons, John and his wife, Barbara Torrente, of Meriden and Mark and his wife, Melissa Torrente, of Killingworth; two grandchildren, Joseph and Allison; and a sister, Mary Guido, of Marlboro, N.J. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael Torrento, of Long Island, N.Y. and Joseph Torrente, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E.
