Stanley M. Solecki

MERIDEN - Stanley M. "Sky King" Solecki, 95, husband of the late Luella (Bourgeois) Solecki died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at the Village Green of Wallingford.

Born in Woonsocket, R.I. on April 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Marcel and Victoria Blyskal Solecki. Stanley resided in Meriden for most of his life and was employed by the International Silver Company prior to retirement. Stanley was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member and former president of the VFW of Meriden.

Stanley is survived by a daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Ed Austin, of Ala.; two sons, Francis Solecki, of Florida and Scott Solecki and his wife, Julie, of Ohio; four grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Frank Palumbo, Christine Solecki, George Austin, and Sarah Solecki; four great-grandchildren, Payslee Austin, Frankie, Nick, and Mia Palumbo; a sister, Wanda Michaud, of Pawtucket, R.I.; a brother, John Solecki, of Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Stanley was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Austin; and two sisters.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. Burial with military honors will be in State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite Military charity.
