Thomas Francis Ward

FARMINGTON, N.Y. - Thomas Francis Ward, beloved husband, of Margaret Swain Ward, formerly of Meriden, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb.28, 2014.

He was born in Hartford, March 3, 1927, son of the late Anna (Cunningham) Ward and John Ward. Upon his graduation from Bulkeley High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While serving his country during World War II he was a member of the Navy Choir and wrote and recorded the song "More than the Mountains".
Until his retirement, he was a machinist at Pratt and Whitney in New Haven. Having lived in Meriden, he and Peggy decided to move to South Carolina when they retired and recently moving to Farmington, NY.

Besides his wife, he was survived by his two children, Patricia (Gordon) McCarty and Thomas Ward. His memory will also be cherished by his seven grandchildren, Larry (Shannon) Ward, Daniel (Renee) Bernardo, William Bernardo, Ronette (Michael) Washington, Laura Noonan, Sarah Ward and Katherine (David) York; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, John; his sisters, Ann Morency and Mary Callahan; and his great-grandson, Cameron Ward.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, March 22, from 2 to 3 p.m. at The Family Christian Worship Center at 53 Coe Ave, Meriden. A memorial service will immediately follow the hour of calling.
