William F. Beck

WALLINGFORD - William F. "Bill" Beck died peacefully in Wallingford on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at age 86.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late William H. and Anna Beck. The family later moved to Stamford where he was raised. After World War II service in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Navy, Bill worked as a dairyman for Borden's Dairy in Stamford for 35 years. Moving to Wallingford in 1978, he retired from Veterans Memorial Medical Center at age 70. When younger, Bill loved driving vacations (Maine, Missouri, Texas and other places). He also enjoyed walking along Durham Road, Friday night church dinners at United Church in Durham, and engaging friends and neighbors in jokes and conversation.

Bill is survived by his sister, Mary P. Ball, of Connecticut; brother, Thomas C. Beck (Grace J.,) of Texas; Betty Ball, of Hamden; his niece and caregiver; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom grieve his loss and miss him every day.

His family would like to express their thanks to the staff on Tamarac Floor at Village Green for their exemplary care in the last months of his life, and to his neighbors for their kindness and attention during his illness.

Funeral services will be private.
