Zachary A. Bzdyra

HAMDEN - Zachary Andrew Bzdyra 21, of Hamden, died suddenly on Saturday, July 3, 2010, son of Su-zann Kober, of Hamden, and Frank Bzdyra, of Bridgeport. Zachary is survived by his brothers, Cazimir and Samuel Bzdyra.

Zach graduated in 2006 from Hamden High, attended Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass., and graduated in May from University of Connecticut with a B.S. in English and had been awarded two honor societies. Zach excelled in his studies and worked late into the night to finish that paper that was due tomorrow.

A sports enthusiast, he could be seen riding his bike on the Canal or the streets of Hamden, kicking a soccer ball or throwing a Frisbee at Legion. He was currently training for the Warrior Dash in September. Zach was an extreme player, going full tilt at everything he did. Soccer was his life, playing at Anna Maria and being awarded All Conference achievement. He was glued to the T.V. set during the recent World Cup, England, and of course the U.S.A. being the teams of choice. Ultimate Frisbee was his game at UConn. A friend posted on FB, "you were insane and gave everything, putting your body on the line for the team, and you left it ail there. Then off the field you were cool, quiet, and reasonable. Something we could all learn a lot from."

He looked forward to someday starting his own microbrewery and was applying to a number of breweries on both coasts in hopes of getting his "foot in the door." Zach's interest in beer making and his connoisseur appe-tite of beers was sparked by working at Amity Wines & Liquors in Hamden for the past four years. Zach was an avid writer with an internship at the New Haven Register and articles for college publications along with screenplays, poems and ideas for a book he hoped to someday publish. He loved fire and fireworks and used to make his own. This was his time of year. He made your day with a smile or a hug and was always there for his friends.

Along with his parents and brothers, Zachary is survived by maternal grandparents, Marge and Al Lemanski, of Shelton, Fr. Stephen Bzdyra, Aleksandra and Barbara Bzdyra, Terese and Don Lako; and many first and second cousins. Also survived by his stepmother, Donna Bzdyra; a stepsister, Brynne; and stepbrother, Bret. Zachary will be sadly missed by his friends many of whom he had known since early childhood. He lived life to the fullest in his short time here on the planet. "What time is it? Game Time."

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Zach's life at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, between 12 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, preceded by a prayer service at 11 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m., at Church of the Ascension, Dunbar Hill Road, Hamden, Wednesday, July 21. Burial at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to UConn Ultimate Frisbee Team, Attn. George Dickerson. www.siskbrothers.com
