Albert Pedrolini Obituary

MERIDEN- Albert F. Pedrolini passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Midstate Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cardiac disease. He was surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Al was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Hanley) Pedrolini and they had been married for 49 years.

Al was born the son of Albert and Adeline Pedrolini in Meriden in 1943, and lived there his entire life. As a child, he attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, proudly served as an altar boy, and had a very close relationship with his maternal grandparents, Ettore and Anna Pagini. He graduated in 1961 from Maloney High School and was a proud member of its football and baseball teams, as well its chorus. He went on to play football and study physical education at Southern Connecticut State University and graduated with his bachelor's in education in 1965. Al started his career in education in Bloomfield. He earned a master's degree, as well a sixth year at Southern. He taught biology, botany, and chemistry at Southington High School for over 30 years, where he served as a coach of the football and swim team. He was an avid fly fisherman and a member of the Housatonic Flyfisherman's Association for many years. Aside from fly fishing, there was nothing more important to Al than his close-knit family.

In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his beloved daughter, Tina Caplan, her husband, Mark; his beloved sister, Cheryl Pedrolini Moran; his sister-in-law, Ellen Uliase; a nephew, Joseph Uliase; and a niece, Laura Chubineh; as well as many close, lifelong friends. In the last six years of his life, his grandson Max became the center of his world. The time he spent with Max was some of his most precious moments.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, prior to the Mass from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, 115 Lewis Ave, Meriden, CT 06451. John and Sarah Tucker and Family

January 20, 2014

Aunt Jean in Florida and all your Tucker cousins in Connecticut, Ohio and Florida were so sorry to hear of your loss and send our condolences; our Mom always treasured Albert's spark and was proud of him for his many accomplishments. "Mr. Pedrolini" was also a role model and central figure in our memories of Southington High School; we will forever remember his friendliness, fearlessness, high standards, exuberant sense of humor and overall vigor. May his spirit live on through his family, friends and the thousands of students whose lives he touched ...

Mr. Pedrolini was my high school chemistry teacher and remains one of my favorite teachers to this day. His encouragement and dedication to help me succeed inspired a confidence I never had before. Today, I am a teacher and aim to give to my students the gift Mr. Ped gave to me. I hope you find peace in knowing how many lives he positively affected. My prayers are with your family.

My folks and Al's parents were neighbors and friends for many years post WWII. My sister Carol graduated from Maloney in the same class. I was friends with Beverly. I am sorry to hear of Al's passing. Prayers to all of you. May your memories comfort you.

To Kathy, Tina, Cheryl, and entire Pedrolini family:
My sincere condolences on the passing of Al. Al's maternal grandparents were my father's godparents. Al served as an altar boy at my parent's wedding in 1956 and I served as an altar boy at his wedding almost 50 years ago. Our families have been good friends for a long time, going back to the old Italian neighborhood on Springdale Avenue. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Rest in peace Al.
Sincerely Ed Bagnaschi

Mr. Pedrolini was one of my favorite teachers, and my love of chemistry began with his excellent class. As a Chemical Engineering Professor now, I cannot think of a teacher who had more of an impact on my future career. As an educator, I try to reach the level of connection he had with the students in my junior year Chemistry class.

Kathy & Tina, Our sincere sympathy and condolences to you and your family on the passing of Al. Though it has been a number of years since we have had the opportunity to see him we remember him well. In particular, we remember the warm friendship that existed between the Meoni family and the Pagini family for many years--in fact his mother Delina, was the flower girl in my mother Julia's wedding in 1926! He is now in a better place!!!

Deepest sympathy from the Ken Tomalski Family. Al and I go back to Meriden Little League baseball in the '50s. As time passed our encounters were few - but the hand shake reflected a bond of friendship. May he rest in peace.
