Amelia J. Giordano

MIDDLETOWN-Amelia J. Giordano, born in Meriden on Nov. 2, 1925, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She resided for many years on Randolph Road in Middletown. She was the daughter of Vincenzo James Giordano originally of Avellino, Italy and Josephine Figlioli Giordano from Potenza, Italy, who brought up their family in Meriden. She attended Meriden schools including St. Rose and graduated from Meriden High School. She worked at New Departure, General Motors in Meriden and also in the catering business with her nephew, John Carta for many years. She was devoted to St. Jude and enjoyed reading and going to the movies. Her greatest joy was being a devoted sister and caretaker to her many siblings and was a great inspiration and guide to her many nieces and nephews. She touched everyone in her life with great compassion, strength and love and showered them with her deep zest for life. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her sister, Angelina Nagle, of Farmington, Maine; and her sister-in-law, Marion Giordano, of Southington. She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, Armadeo, Dominic and Peter Giordano; and also her sisters, Cecelia Dobson, Rochina Couture and Gloria Carta.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E.
