Anne Chamberlain Obituary

WALLINGFORD - Anne Louise Chamberlain, 61, of Wallingford, passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013.

Anne was born in Meriden, May 16, 1952, a daughter of Monica Kulikowski Chamberlain of Wallingford and the late Roger W. Chamberlain, and was a Down syndrome person. She attended Wallingford schools and the Meriden-Wallingford ARC Program. Anne lived for a time in Middletown and later at Blueberry Road Group Home in Chester, Conn., and finally at Village Green of Wallingford.

Anne loved animals, riding a bike, and motorcycle rides. She did latch-hook rugs and loved to draw. Her sense of humor and big smile will be remembered. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Village Green of Wallingford for their wonderful care of Anne.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her three sisters, Natalie Scott and husband, John, of Wallingford; Monica Chamberlain and husband, Patrick Minnehan, of Texas; and Elizabeth Houlihan and husband, George, of South Carolina; and her brother Peter Chamberlain and wife, Bonnie, of Vermont. Anne is also survived by nephews Michael and Patrick Houlihan, George and David Gdovin, and Samuel Chamberlain; and her niece Barbara Mendoza.

Funeral services and Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. Special thanks to all who cared for Anne throughout her life. In her memory, donations may be made to an animal shelter. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext. www.wallingfordfh.com

Anne was one of the very first young people I worked with when I began at the John Nerden Camp in Middlefield. I have wonderful memories of those years, and of Anne. Many years later I came to know her Dad when I taught at Thomas Hooker School. My thoughts and prayers to all of Anne's loved ones.

So sad to hear this news. Anne worked with me years ago at the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital; in the Central Supply Service. She was a hard worker, eager to learn and helpful in so many ways.

It was not unusual for Anne to walk up to any one of us; give us a hug and a smile, and say "I love you". That was a special part of her character. Her presence in our department lifted our spirits each and every day she was there.

While I have never met the Chamberlain family; I know them in a sense through Anne. I vividly remember the many times she recounted her parents; as well as her sisters and brother. It was clear to me; Anne loved her family very, very much.

Knowing Anne was an honor and privilege.

My sincere condolences to the entire Chamberlain family on your loss.

May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Leslie Porto, Chambersburg, PA.
