Barbara Bukowski

MIDDLETOWN - Barbara Bukowski, 84, wife of the late Otto Bukowski, died peacefully at Waters Edge in Middletown, on Friday, July, 19, 2013, surrounded by her Family.

Born in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Zakutansky) Stagon. Barbara grew up in Meriden and graduated from Meriden High School in 1947, where she was voted " Girl with the biggest line" by her classmates. She met Otto on the dance floor and they married shortly after in 1948. They remained in Meriden to raise their children and be close to family and friends. In the early 1960s, she was a supervisor in Dutchmaid and Queen's Way. Barbara was also the co-owner of the Colonial Shop and Purple Door both in Meriden. She retired from the Purple Door when Otto retired in 1990, to spend more time together. They summered at Old Colony Beach in Old Lyme, where they loved to entertain family and friends and go on tag sales. Everyone was welcomed; they would also spend time in Florida during the winter months with friends at Fort Myers Beach.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Trudel and Mark Vartanian; son, Jeff Bukowski and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Kyle, Alex, and Eric Bukowski; her sister, Marion Fellegy; and her nephew, Todd Fellegy. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by a sister, Ann Mickunas, of Bayonne, N.J.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 24, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St, Meriden. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery Meriden.
