Betty Muenchow Garbe

MERIDEN - Betty Muenchow Garbe, 88, of Meriden, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at her daughter Charlotte's home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of 59 years to the late Ernest Garbe.

Betty was born in Meriden, April 1, 1925, the daughter of the late Richard Muenchow and Louise Schneider Muenchow. Betty graduated from Larson College and worked at Rockwell Silver and later for Dr. William Wheaton and Dr. Craig Nielsen until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden and was involved in all aspects of the congregational life.

Betty is survived by two sons, Bruce Garbe and his wife, Kirsten and Pastor Kurt Garbe, of Hazleton, Pa., two daughters, Darianne Wilson and her husband, Pete and Charlotte Garbe, all of Meriden; nine grandchildren, William, David, Allison, Kristin, Marc, Elizabeth, Melissa, Kaitlyn and Cortney; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Julie and Victoria. She was predeceased by two brothers, Rennick Muenchow and Robert Muenchow.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. There will be no calling hours.
