Carl Fitzgibbons Obituary
He was born in Meriden on July 23, 1939, and was the son of the late Thomas M. and Loretta (Bergin) Fitzgibbons. Carl served in the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer, USS Wren and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He leaves his wife, Marjorie (Johnson) Fitzgibbons; his daughter, Amy Fitzgibbons and son-in-law, Dennis Kane, of S. Boston, Mass.; and his son, Kyle and daughter-in-law, Reagan, of Portland; and three grandchildren, Tara, Paige and Colin Fitzgibbons. Carl is also survived by his brother, James and his wife, Rosalie, of Sarasota, Fla.; and his sister and her husband, Patricia and Fred Danby, of Southington; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Jr., and Robert.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, May 20, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Portland Memorial Funeral Home 231 Main St Portland. Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, Carl's family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or the International Mesothelioma Program or the Portland Volunteer Fireman's Association. Carl and I grew up together. We attended Israel Putnam grammer school (now apartments on Broad St), and spent some tome in Jefferson Junior High together. I was the geeky looking tallmmmh kid that lived on the Miller Estate (now old peoples homes). Carl was a man os steel even in those days and one of My best friends. Rest well old friend. I will join you soon enough.

I was saddened by the news that Carl had passed. He and I were very close chilhood friends on Broad St. in Meriden. We had many adventures together that I remember clearly to this day.

Carl will be missed by many people. I met him with his friend sony. He was a funny guy. The store would light up when he walked in. Prayers are with you.

Carl was my friend. I stayed in his house in Conn. He stayed at my house in Indiana. We roomed together doing union work in many places. The Union work he did helped many people in lots of places. I will miss our phone calls reliving our glory days and the many good times we had together. I wish I could be there with you now.
