SANDUSKY, Ohio - Charles Welmar Reed, Jr., 62, of Sandusky, Ohio, formerly of Wallingford, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Toledo St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.

Chuck was born in Wallingford, Sept. 1, 1950, the son of the late Charles Reed Sr., and Dorothy (Smith) Reed. Chuck was employed by General Motors and Delphi as a tool and die maker, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, riding his Harley and playing the role of Santa Claus. He was a proud member of the UAW Local 913, the Harley Owners Group, and was an avid blood donor.
Chuck is survived by his son, Skip Reed and his wife, Amy; and his daughter, Alison Armstrong and her husband, Art, all of Southington. He was the loving grandfather to Kayla, Ashley, and Chad Reed, and Andrew, and Alivia Armstrong; he is also survived by his loving companion and best friend, Margie; his sister, Judy Ogden and her husband, Rusty, of Florida; his former wife, Laurie Reed; several aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews; and his dog Abbey. Chuck also played the devoted role of father and grandfather to Margie's family. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Barry.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held in The Wallingford Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.
