Constance Bianconi Obituary

AUBURN, Maine - Constance Siino Bianconi, 87 years old, died at Hospice House in Auburn, Maine, on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013.

She was born in Meriden, on Sept. 16, 1926, daughter of Frank and Josephine (Zanghi) Siino. Her mother died when she was five years old, and her father remarried when Connie was 10, to Anna Zampano. She was born just two blocks from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Meriden, and was a lifelong congregant. She was married there on June 16, 1949, to Natale Bianconi, who died in 1999; they were married for 50 years.
She was educated in Meriden schools, and graduated from the old Meriden High School. She was active in Mt. Carmel School parent activities, and was president of the PTA for one year. She worked for Travelers Insurance before starting her family, and then for many years for CIGNA (then Connecticut General) in the Medicare division, from which she retired.
She and Nat traveled frequently, to Europe and Australia; and for 13 years, they spent two months in Florida each winter.
She moved to Maine in 2003 to live with her son, and then lived in Schooner Assisted Living for the past eight years. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and her kids will always cherish her recipe file.

She is survived by three loving children, Susan (and Robert) Zacharie, of Mansfield Center, Conn., Dr. Jeffrey (and Lisa) Bianconi, of Rockingham, Vt., and Dr. Gregory (and Deborah) Bianconi, of Lisbon Falls, Maine; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Cessario, of Meriden; her sister-in-law, Maureen Siino, of Bristol, R.I.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents; brother Fred; sister Anna; and daughter-in-law Wendy.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The family sincerely and gratefully thanks the staff at Schooner Estates and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their attentive and professional care over the years.
