Dear first cousin Ellen, I hold so many memories of you as a young girl and a really smart intelligent beautiful young woman. The holidays spent together in Franklin Square at the big family parties were always so much fun. On the very long car rides down from Corning for Easter or another holiday, I would be looking forward especially to seeing my girl cousins, you and Linda, who were my own age. I will always remember your light spirit and the special sparkle in your eyes, and I know how important family was to you, then and always. We did live our adult lives very far apart geographically, but I have some special memories of seeing you at family milestone events. I am grateful that we spent some one-to-one time back in April 2010, however brief that was, it made me happy to see how you loved Luis, and to see your excitement about your new home, and wish I had made trips to see you but ordinary life commitments always kept me away.
Ellen, you were my special cousin and I can remember quite clearly you as a ten-year girl at Rockaway Point, and those memories of you,I treasure. I know that my father, your Uncle Joe, was especially fond of you, and he delighted in remembering about your visit to Corning a few years back. With love and good memories.

I am sure your Uncle Joe would be very sad to learn of your passing. We elderly also find it hard to understand why young pass on ahead of us.

I will miss you mom. You were all I ever really had. I will make you proud. I will keep your memory strong in my children. They will never forget you. You will be the strong maple tree, that we will plant in our yard. We can hold you and watch you grow, forever.
