Erika Brayfield Obituary
Born November 24, 1933 in Sierpc, Poland, to the late Edmund and Natalie (Hoff) Ruppel, she had been a longtime Southington resident.
Erika was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church in Southington and an active member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed gardening, baking, ceramics, and traveling. She will be remembered for the great love she had for her family and friends.
Erika is survived by three sons and their wives: David and Kathy Brayfield, of Southington; Mark and Sharon Brayfield, of Ohio; and Gary and Donna Brayfield of Southington; 7 grandchildren: Matthew, Zachary, Kelly, Amanda, Cassondra, Logan, and Jordan; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Inge Stoeppel and her husband, Robert, of Danbury; and Ursula Paradis and her husband, Ed, of Beacon Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Ronald Brayfield, and her brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Erika's memory may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Sharing and Caring Committee, 232 Bristol St., Southington, CT 06489; or to the National Pancreatic Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Southington. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Kathy, Dave and family, I am so sorry to hear of Erika's passing. She was a role model to me as a young wife and mother. She was one of the best cooks and mothers I ever knew. Always there for her family, and with a smile on her face. May all the happy memories of Erika help you through this time of sorrow. We will all miss her.
