MERIDEN - Frances Gilmore, 89, formerly of Wallingford and Spring Hill, Fla., departed this life on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Bradley Home in Meriden. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Gilmore.

She was born in Waterbury on Feb. 3, 1925, daughter of the late Carmon and Agnes (Butler) Mangle. Until her retirement, she was an inspector for General Motors, Inc. (New Departures).

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Robert Hourigan and his wife, Ellen, of Wallingford, John R. (Jack) Hourigan, Jr., and his wife, Marian, of Cheshire, Scott Gilmore and his wife, Denise, of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Gilmore, Robin Hettrick, Jay Hourigan, Tamara Beth Laplante, and Stacia Doyle; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Arnold Mangle; and her great-granddaughter, Brielle Laplante.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. To leave a message of remembrance, please visit
