MERIDEN - Howard F. Vorse, 91, formerly of Lunenburg, Mass. husband of the late Mary J. Vorse, died on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Apple Rehab/Coccomo after a brief illness.

Born in Leominster, Mass on April 19, 1922, he was the son of the late Howard F. and Mary (Talbot) Vorse. He graduated from Leominster High School. He was employed as a tool and die maker. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist's mate 3rd class in Panama.

He is survived by three children, Kathy Marshall and her husband, Bill, Mike Vorse and his wife, Kathy, and Cindy Christian and her husband, Gary; five grandchildren, Kelly and her husband, Richard Kazanjian, Erica and her husband, Mike Holland, Jena and her husband, Nick Lindsley, Brett, and Callie; six great-grandchildren Sophie, Ryan, Alexis Rose, Kaylee (his best friend), Emma, and Grace. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at The State Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Franciscan Home and Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.
