Janet Cerbie

MERIDEN - Janet Cerbie died on Sunday, June 9, 2013, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. A loving mother and grandmother, Janet was very active in the Meriden community for many years, serving with the Board of Directors of the Girls Club, Miller Memorial Community and the Board of Trustees of Center Congregational Church. Janet's passion was music. As a teenager she was the recipient of the New Jersey Griffith Music Foundation, Highest Honors Award. Janet was a soloist at many churches throughout Connecticut and the associate organist at Center Congregational Church for many years. She was also a soloist with the WELI radio chorus in Hamden where she recorded several commercials for them.

She is survived by her sons, Marc Cerbie and his wife, Barbara ,of Meriden, Steven Cerbie and his wife, Elizabeth, of Middletown; her daughter, Suzanne Cerbie, of Centreville, Va.; and two granddaughters, Amy and Megan Cerbie, of Meriden.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday,, June 13, at 10 a.m. at Center Congregational Church, 474 Broad St., Meriden. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
