SOUTHINGTON - John C. Miller, 95, of Southington, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus. He was the loving husband of the late Josephine (DeSanti) Miller for over 40 years. He was born in New York, N.Y. on May 30, 1919, and was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Gabriel) Miller.

Prior to his retirement, John worked for the Sunbeam/Raymond Bakery company. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. John was a member of the YMCA, the Calendar House, the Southington Country Club, and St. Aloysius Church. He loved to bowl in the winter and golf in the summer, but would ride his bike all year long. John loved his family and was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
John is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Jubert; grandchildren, Melissa Tillotson and husband, Adam, Stacey Porter and husband, Thomas, and Jake Jubert; and great-grandchildren Trevor and Tyler Porter, all of Southington, along with several nieces and nephews in Long Island.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jeddie Jubert, who was like a son to him; and brothers George, Bernie, and Joseph Miller, and sisters Jane Miller and Elizabeth McCarty.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at The Summit of Plantsville for the love and care given to John for the past seven years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday July 21, at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial with military honors will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
