WALLINGFORD - Joseph W. Schlosser, 81, of Wallingford, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. He was the loving Husband of the late Phyllis A. Bentze Schlosser.

He was born in New York, May 7, 1932, a son of the late Adolph and Anna Servatius Schlosser and served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed as an Elevator Constructor for 40 years and was a member of I.U.E.C. Local 91. Joe was a tremendous athlete in his early days, ready for the professional level until a car accident ended his dream. He continued with sports his whole life as a coach and as an avid fan of all sports he could take in. Joe was a wonderful father, provider and role model to all of his children and grandchildren. His favorite place in life was right by his late wife's side, enjoying all 63 years they had together. His favorite place to vacation was Ogunquit, Maine, where he and Phyllis lived happily for five years, and visited annually for 30 years - their home away from home. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.

He is survived by his children, Joseph F. Schlosser and his wife, Shirlee, of Wallingford, Catherine Muzio and her husband, Phil, of Durham, Patricia Schlosser and her partner, Mary Kundrath, of Wallingford, James Schlosser and his wife, Johnna, of Wallingford, and Judy Schlosser, of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Sarah Brown and her husband, Will ,of Northford, Joseph A. Schlosser, of Wallingford, Patrick Schlosser and his wife, Lareina, of Meriden, Jena Schlosser, of Larkspur, Colo., and James Schlosser Jr., of Wallingford; his great- grandchildren, Lily Schlosser, Liam Brown, Jax Schlosser and Noah Schlosser; his siblings, Dorothy Schlosser, of New York, Anne Scheirenberg and her husband, Charles, of New York, Arthur Schlosser and his wife, Julia, of Virginia, and Marie Lynch, of New York; and his grand dogs, Ginger, Bella and Cassie. He was predeceased by his sister, Rita Yocum, of Oregon.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2 until 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
