She received her associate's degree from Becker Junior College and was a highly active member of the North Haven Association of Retarded Citizens as well as serving on its Board of Directors. In addition, she also dedicated her time and served on committees for the Easter Seals organization. Employed with the North Haven Public School system, she later volunteered her services as an aide.
