Marvin DeBaise Obituary

SOUTH WINDSOR- Marvin L. DeBaise, 80, of South Windsor, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014. He was the beloved husband of 58 years of Jean (Capezuto) DeBaise.

Marvin was born on Sept. 10, 1933, to the late Edith and Dominic DeBaise. He grew up in Wallingford, where he attended Choate School, class of 1951. He attended Boston University, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa, and graduated in 1955 with a bachelor of arts in finance and communications. While attending Boston University, Marvin met his future wife and love of his life, Jean. They married shortly after his graduation in 1955. During his senior year, he joined Esterbrook & Company in Boston, where he was the youngest broker to receive his brokerage license. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Korean War. He spent 16 months proudly serving his country. Upon returning, he and Jean relocated to Connecticut where he continued his career of 52 years as a financial advisor working for Esterbrook & Company, Tucker Anthony, Legg Mason, and Wells Fargo Advisors. Marvin was a dedicated, loving and generous family man to his wife Jean, son Marcus, daughter-in-law Deneen and his two grandchildren, Julia and Nicholas. He loved to spend time with his family at his Cape Cod house. He enjoyed taking vacations with his children and grandchildren to Walt Disney World. After being a die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan for many years, he was finally converted to becoming an avid Boston Red Sox fan by his son. He loved to root on his lady UCONN Huskies team and never missed watching a game. He enjoyed watching his grandson's many soccer and baseball games, and his granddaughter's softball and horseback riding competitions. Marvin was known to everyone who knew him for his great sense of humor and wit. He always had a smile on his face and a joke ready to make you laugh. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. His love, humor and gentle kindness will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Marvin leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Jean, his much loved son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Deneen, of Ellington; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia who he loved dearly. He also leaves his godson and nephew, Christopher Capezuto; and niece, Amanda Capezuto.

The family will receive family and friends at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, on Thursday, Jan. 30, between the hours of 4 and 7:30 p.m. A funeral service for Marvin will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, beginning at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial, to be celebrated at 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Interment will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116. My Sincere Sympathy. Marv and I go back to his Tucker
Anthony days. We had a group of four including Marv
and myself that met every day for lunch. Marv made
that the bright spot of our day as he did for many people.

Jean, I didn't get Christmas cards out this year and was about to drop you an update note. I was so saddened to hear about Marvin's sudden death. You know how close the old Constitution Plaza guys were and Ron loved Marvin..everybody loved Marvin. The fact is several of us were in the "father's" room waiting for Marcus..how long ago was that? My family and I will be thinking of you and your family Jean and our
prayers are with you. Joanne Smith

My name is John LeProhon and I had the pleasure of knowing Marvin for over 40 years as his neighbor. He was one of the finest individuals I ever had the pleasure of be with. Last summer my wife Nina had a wonderful lunch with he and Jean while visiting South Windsor. We dined with Marvin and Jean in Florida a few years ago.
