Mary Marchetti Obituary

MERIDEN - Mary S. Marchetti, 94, wife of the late Angelo S. Marchetti, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 with her family by her side.

Born in Claremont, N.H. on March 15, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Katie (Kuzmich) Shinkevich. She had resided in Meriden since 1942. Mrs. Marchetti was employed by a shoe factory in New Hampshire, and then later was employed by New Departure, Hyatt Bearing, Division of General Motors. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member of the National Button Society. She was an avid button collector and loved gardening and cooking.

She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Rich and her husband, Kenneth, of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, Michael Marchetti and his wife, Melissa, of Berlin, Robert Marchetti, of Meriden and William Marchetti, of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Kathryn, Rachel, Kevin, Ryan, Eric, Jennifer, Danielle and Lexie; and eight great-grandchildren, Julia, Audrey, Charlotte, Sammy, Aiden, Kaitlyn, Lila and Max. She was also survived by one brother, Alex Shinkevich and his wife, Marianne, of West Suffield; two brothers-in-law, Guy Marchetti, Sr., of Meriden and Nick Marchetti, of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Ankuda; a brother, John Shinkevich; and a special friend, Clifton MacDonald.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug.12, at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to Vitas Hospice, 199 Park Road Ext., Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762. Dear Dorothy, I have such fond memories of your Mother, and also your Dad from many years ago on Wilbur Ave. My sister Margo and I would play with you and your brothers and your mother Mary and my mother Olga(D'Allesantro) would yackety yack...thouroughly enjoying each others company! We remember your Mother as being happy and determined, and your Dad being kind and trying to keep up with your Mother. I know you have many memories to sustain you, and I send you love and strength.
