Palmina Manfred Obituary
Born in Southington on May 30, 1915, she was the daughter of Salvatore and Tomasina (Ruggerio) Mariconda. She had resided in Meriden for most of her life, before moving to Mystic in 1985. She attended local Southington schools. She was formerly employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company for some 20 years before her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton and was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Meriden.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Ernest Manfred and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mystic, and Thomas Manfred and his wife, Gale, of Coram, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Pamela, Douglas, Rachel, Tiana and Laura; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Fanny Janazzo, of Southington; and one brother, James Mariconda and his wife, Carolyn, of Sayville, N.Y. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Julia DeMayo, Mary Mariconda and Louise Mariconda, all of Southington.
The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden, for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, (TODAY), from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton, CT 06340. Ernie and Betty,
We are so sorry for your loss. Joe and Pal were such a part of our lives for the past 18 years. We will always remember them fondly. Pal was such a great cook and she taught our boys to love sarsaparilla. They never tired of going over and visiting her even when they got older. We couldn't have asked for better neighbors. God bless them and God bless you.

Ernie and entire Manfred family,
So sorry to hear about your loss. I can remember as a child how my father and grandmother always spoke so fondly about Mrs. Manfred. The night before my dad died I can recall the first words out of his mouth when he greeted Ernie and Elizabeth who visited him in the hospital was “how's Pal doing?” Regretfully I will not be able to attend services. May God bless you during this time of sorrow.
