Richard B. Maslar

MARATHON, Fla. - Richard Bruno Maslar died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, in Marathon, Fla.

Born in Meriden, Conn., on Feb. 17, 1960, he was the son of Jane P. Maslar, of Meriden and the late Richard (Muzzy) Maslar. He attended Cheshire Academy. Richard worked at the family business, Guardrail Inc., for many years. In recent times, he worked in heavy construction in Florida. He was a member of the local Lions Club, Shriners and the Elks Club in Florida. His gift and passion was cooking. He always loved dogs, warm weather and the ocean. For the past 5 years, he made his residence in the Florida Keys.

Besides his mother, Jane P. Maslar, of Meriden; he is survived by his two children, Richard (Richie) Maslar, of Meriden and Rebecca Maslar, of North Haven. He is also survived by his siblings, Cheryl Smith and husband, Ralph, of Tolland, John (Bruce) Maslar and his wife, Janice (McLaughlin) Maslar, of Durham, Gail Hennessy and husband, Paul, of Meriden, Holly Mucik, of Meriden, Denise Chymbor and husband, Michael, of Southington, Michael Maslar, of North Carolina, Jocelyn Henderson and husband, Donald, of Southington, and Cindy Mauro, of South Meriden. He has many surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, an aunt and two great-great-aunts. Richard held his longtime friends in high regard, among them; Cab Calloway and Shawn Hard.

A memorial service will be arranged by the family at a future date.
