I am so happy that I have been able to see my son through his friend's eyes. I have read all the posts here, talked to some of you on facebook, e-mailed others and spoken in person to some. I always knew my son Rick was a giving, caring, and compassionate person who loved animals and cared about other people. Having all of you tell me stories about Rick, proves what I already know. I am so glad Rick was able to get together with some of his friends for Sarah's birthday. It makes me happy to know he reconnected with some of his friends and everyone got to spend time with him celebrating. I also want to thank Sarah, Cassie, Devon, and John for asking to be able to keep something of Rick's, he would be happy to know how much everyone really did care about him.

Rick and I first met on Battle.net back in 2005. He and I became fast friends and talked over the phone quite a lot. He was a very dear friend to me, and even though we never met face to face, he touched my heart so deeply that I considered him one of my very best friends. Any time I had a problem, I could call him. He always knew how to cheer me up, no matter what crazy time of the morning it was. I would call him crying and he would stay with me until he knew I would be ok. I wish with all my heart that I had gotten to talk to him one last time. Hear his voice telling me everything would be ok.. His is a light I will never be able to replace in my life. He was the most beautiful person I have had the honor of knowing, and I will miss him for the rest of my life.. I would like to honor him with a poem I wrote.

~Last Good-Bye~

A tear slips down her somber face,
Onto his final resting place.
The moon won't shine, skies grow dim,
As she mourns over him.
Rain falls down like gentle lace,
To hide the tears uppon her face,
As she neils to set him down,
For one last time into the ground.
Tear drops fall upon the box,
As its covered in dirt and rocks.
A few last words, as still she cries,
"I never was good at good-byes.."

Rick, I'm sorry that our last conversation wasn't exactly how I would have liked to ended things. I feel so bad because you have no idea how much I cared for you. I wish that we had kept talking. When I first moved back to Wallingford after being in MA for so long, we became good friends. You lived right down the street in the condos and would come over and hang out. I would beg you to come pick me up because i loved the heated seats in your car, lol. I remember all the times I'd call you at 2 in the morning because I had a bad night and you would stay on the phone with me for hours then come by and I'd be laughing by the end of the night. I remember when we went out for dinner at Archie Moore's and we ate so much we could not move. The times at Sarah b's and how all of us there was never a dull moment! Oh man. So fun... I wish more than anything that those times could still be happening right now and everything would be exactly like it was two years ago. You helped me through the hard times i was going through and you had so many different friends and you would still manage to see everyone and make time.for everyone no matter what. I'm sorry you're gone. Im so glad i had the chance to know you. You will be in my thoughts, rick. <33

Rick was the warmest and biggest hearted person I knew. He would bend over backwards to help anyone he knew. I can't count the ammount of times he showed up to save me in a time of need. He was one of our closest and best friends. I cant picture the world spinning the same without you. We miss you so much Rick.

I remember the fun times running around grams yard laughing, playing and pushing little Rick in the swing set with Cori. Rick always had a big smile on his face and loved to make everyone laugh.

I always remember how he would run behind us and grab our hands and pull us toward the TV and say Ha Ha , Ha Ha because he wanted to watch Americas funniest home videos, his favorite show, so we could all laugh together.

The memories I have of the happy, smiling Rick, who loved to laugh, are dear to my heart.

Dear Lil Rick:

You were always one of my earthly angels, one of my boys, one of my pack. Now you are a heavenly angel, I and the boys will miss you, our pack is missing an important member to feel complete. As I read what your friends write...they all write the same thing and that is you were the best friend one can ask for. With my boys, you were more than a friend; you were their brother. Each one was affected by you being in their lives and each is expressing his loss differently. As you do your rounds, please flutter your wings around and guide them, whisper advice and comfort and lift their soul when they need it. My home is always open to you...don't look for the key for you no longer need it. Thank you for blessing us with having you in our lives. My Lil Rick I will miss you so!

My condolences go out to Rick's family.

I don't think he ever said something that didn't make me laugh. And if he did, it was insightful and intelligent. Rick was a genuine, thoughtful, smart, and funny man. He was one of the few people I would regularly look to for a breath of fresh air from an otherwise stifling day. Rick always supported his friends, and was never afraid to defend his beliefs or stand against ignorance. His personality shone as bright as my memories of him will.

I will miss you, Rick.

Even though I only knew Rick for a few years, he ended up being one of my closer friends. He was the kind of person that if you got to know him, you could help but like, because he was just such a kind hearted and would always listen to what you had to say...He will be greatly missed

Rick was one of my best friends, whom I had my best times with. No one would have, or could have partaken in some of my favorite memories with Rick. We crashed a sports car together, skinned a deer together at 6am, and told our guidance counselor we were going to be pirates off the Ivory Coast. Our ideas were always rediculous and generally frowned upon, but we were always having fun. Rick was an important person to me, and an excellent friend. Love doesn't really come up when men talk and as a result Rick never heard it, but - I love you, Buddy. I'll always remember the good times we shared and your genuine hearty laugh that accompanied.

I've asking myself how to let go of a bond built over the course of twenty years. The answer is it needn't be. Rick's spirit lives on through our actions. His positive thoughts and motivations have always run parallel to my own. Every moment from those of childhood whimsy to laboring through winter storms with firewood will be held close in my heart.

I don't think a day will go by in our future that Rick wont cross our minds. We always wanted him with us- he was the third wheel that just made things more fun and interesting. We didn't mind as a couple always having him there- he was like a brother. When Brian and I left for California, we had to stop in Jamestown, NY to get a van, and as soon as we got the van we headed right back to CT to see him one last time. We were so eager to get ourselves to the West, but it was hard to leave someone who created such vibrant, memorable experiences. What brings tears to my eyes the most is the way him and Brian connected. The way they laughed at things together- it was so special. I don't think Brian will ever find someone as special to him as Rick was. Rick was the only friend I saw the real Brian come through with. I am truly going to miss them together. I will hold onto our memories together in Drama class and the plays, and all the experiences that followed. My heart and energy is with everyone whose life he touched- especially to his family. <3
