SOUTHINGTON - Robert H. Brewster, 79, of Bristol, and formerly of Southington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 12, 2014. He had been the loving husband of Virginia (Parent) Brewster for 46 years.

Robert was born on Jan. 30, 1935 in Meriden, Conn., to the late Warren H. and Mary (Gavin) Brewster.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Southington Police Department for numerous years before retiring. Robert was an avid fisherman and he loved sports, especially the UCONN Husky basketball teams. Robert's natural charisma not only touched his family, but everyone he met.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by his three sons, Steven McCarty Sr. and his wife, Donna, of Plantsville, Dean McCarty and his wife, Carolyn, of Elkton, Md., Michael McCarty Sr. and his, wife, Brenda of Plainville; his four daughters, Bonnie Kizilski and her husband, Ken, of Southington, Connie Kraft, of Plainville, Roxanne Brewster, of Meriden, and Debra Brewster, of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Plantsville Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
