MERIDEN - Robert J. Grimord, 95, loving husband of Hazel R. Burgess Grimord, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Meriden Center.

Born in Meriden on Feb. 25, 1919, he was the son of the late George and Eva (Bourcier) Grimord. Mr. Grimord was employed by New York, New Hampshire and
Hartford R.R. for over 10 years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service with over 34 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, where he was married in September 1943.

Besides his beloved wife of 70 years, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Grimord; a son, James R. Grimord; three grandchildren, Scott, Michael and
James Grimord Jr.; and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Lorraine Mesite; and a brother, Laurent Grimord. He was predeceased by a sister, Edna Konyu.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, March 29, at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St. Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E.
