Robert LaBissoniere Obituary

COVENTRY- Robert L. LaBissoniere, 63, of Coventry, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, with family by his side.

Born in Meriden, Sept. 15, 1950, a son of Helen (Driscoll) LaBissoniere, of Edmond, Okla., and the late George L. LaBissoniere. He was a graduate of Xavier High School and the Charter Oak State College where he received a bachelor of science in health studies. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was a Combat Medic (Corpsman). He received his LPN license upon discharge. Bob worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Newington, as a orthopedic technologist. Although he worked for other employees in that field, he always loved his time at the VA. Bob was loved and will be missed by his family, friends, and caregivers; his laugh, smile, and generous nature most of all. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, playing pool with his buddies, motorcycles, and rooting for his New York Giants. He especially loved his four-legged boys, Zak, Harley, Trooper, Coal, Banff, and Sam.

He is survived by his daughter, Sara Waddle and her husband, Damian and his grandson, Jackson, all of Yukon, Okla.; his brothers, Tom LaBissoniere and his wife, Linda, of Meriden, George LaBissoniere and his wife, Mona, of South Meriden, Dan LaBissoniere and his wife, Sharlene, of South Meriden, Michael LaBissoniere and his wife, Carole, of Middletown; his sisters, Jean Civale and her husband, Frank (Chip) , Mary Patino and her husband, Gary all of Meriden, Helen Civale and her husband, Kim, of East Windsor, and Michelle Lopez and her husband, Jerry, of Edmond, Okla.; several nieces and nephews, Dylan, Candra, Amy, Danielle, Gary, Jessica, Kelly, Melissa, Emily, T.J., Alex, Andre`, Kara, Krista, Nathan, Chloe, Nic, Aaron, Joelle, Jordan, Julia, Noah, and Jada; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 16, at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main St., South Meriden. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be sent to Our Companions Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 956, Manchester, CT 06045. www.ourcompanions.org. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford.

Our family would like to especially thank each and every person at Masonicare who touched Bob's life during his final months. Your devotion, kindness, and loving care were truly a blessing to Bob and our family.

I remember 1 patient at Evergreen and Bob was her nurse. She was dying and wanted to go home to die. Bob helped to get her home and visited whenever he could. I will never forget that. What an amazing man he was.

When Bob worked at Evergreen, he gave some of us a hand blown Christmas ornament, that I have hanging in my den year around. He was the most compassionate person, that I have ever met!!!! Still think about him often!!

I still remember that Bob's favorite candle was one by Yankee Candle named White Christmas. To this day,I still buy them and always think of him. I met Bob when he worked at Evergreen in Stafford Springs. After work on second shift, we sometimes went to Lark's Cafe in Stafford and plaed several rounds of Jenga.
