SOUTHINGTON - Stephen S. Coull, 64, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, on Thursday Aug. 14, 2014. He was the loving husband of Anna (Varrone) Coull for 39 years.

Born July 4, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Andrew and Shirley (Harding) Coull, he had been a longtime Plantsville resident.
Stephen proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He worked for Goodyear before starting his own business as a home improvement contractor, retiring in 2013, after 24 years. Stephen was a volunteer firefighter for 13 years in Company 3 in Plantsville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 72. He loved to work on cars and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Anna, Stephen is survived by his son, Scott Coull, and his wife, Shifali, of Silver Spring, Md.; his two brothers, Andrew Glenn Coull, of Vero Beach, Fla.; and Ian Coull, of Jackson, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gregory Coull.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday Aug. 17, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held before the service from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown.
