SOUTHINGTON - William J. Stafford, 70, of Southington, passed away on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at the Summit of Plantsville. He was the husband of Margaret (Dumont) Stafford.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1943, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late William and Doris (Gagnon) Stafford. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War as an expert rifleman. He was a master barber for over 50 years and operated Bill's Place in Milldale. He was a member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post #72. Bill enjoyed vacationing in Maine, he loved boating and fishing, he was an avid reader and a New York Giants fan, and he loved his dog "Skip".

In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Matthew, and his wife, Krisztina Stafford, of Branford; a sister, Joan Coppola, and husband, Will, of Bristol; three nephews, Thomas, Michael, and Gary Coppola; sisters-in-law Jeanine Larue, and husband, David; and Linda Giovinazzo; brothers-in-law, Thomas Zavorskas; David and Mickey Rioux; Donnie, and wife, Becky Rioux; David LaRue; Bob, and wife, Janet Vine; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Lorraine Zavorskas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
