WALLINGFORD - Alberto C. Batista, 62, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at MidState Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Maria R. Batista. He and Maria were to have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in December.

Born in Villa Franca Azores, Portugal, Oct. 31, 1949, a son of the late Joao and Mariana Carreiro Batista, he came to the U.S. in 1975. He was a Dunkin Donuts franchisee for 33 years and had operated stores in Meriden, Cheshire, Durham, Middletown and Cromwell. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
Besides his beloved wife Maria, he is survived by his daughters, Nelia Batista, and Melissa Cortes and her husband, Andrew, all of Wallingford; his son, Michael Batista and his wife, Nancy, of Wallingford; his grandson, Noah Batista; a sister; five brothers; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home 809 North Main St., Ext, Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday directly at Most Holy Trinity Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
