WALLINGFORD - Bernard S. Beichner, 84, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Masonicare Healthcare Center. He was the beloved husband of Leona Flockerzi Beichner.

He was born in Shippenville, Pa., a son of the late Martin Beichner, Sr. and Rachel Zagst Beichner, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He had been employed by Elm City Construction as a master mechanic and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 478. He had been a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Men's Club of the Our Lady of Fatima Church, and a member of the American Legion in North Haven.
In addition to his wife Leona; he is survived by his son, John Beichner, Sr. and his wife, Lynda, of Middlefield; his grandson, John Beichner, Jr. and his wife, Katherin, of Beaufort, S.C.; his two great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Nolan; his seven sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rose Slaugenhaupt, Theresa Galbraith, Cecilia Dougherty, Elizabeth Slike, Dorothy McGiffin, Mary and Fran Baughman, Barbara and Chuck Baughman, all of Pennsylvania; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Cletus and Rita Beichner, of Pennsylvania, and Dennis and Ruth Beichner, of North Carolina; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Edward, Stephen, Gerald and Philip Beichner, and Martin Beichner, Jr.; and his sisters, Agnes Winger and Adeline Wolbert.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Sunday, Feb. 13, from 3 until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m., from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.
