PLANTATION, Fla. - Donald C "ZZ" "Big Guy" Corazzini (North Haven P.D. Ret), 85, of Plantation, Fla., formerly from Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 7, 1927, son of the late Denny and Angela Corazzini. He was preceded by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Baker Corazzini.

He is survived by his daughters, Martha Corazzini, Jean Portoluri and Jackie Portoluri; grandson, Robert Vallas; and granddaughter, Christine Pennington.

Donald cherished spending time with family and was an avid fan of his beloved New York Yankees. He was a police officer with the North Haven Police Department for over 30 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant in 1989. Prior to his police career, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict aboard the Destroyers USS Braine and USS Purdy.

There will be no calling hours, a private service will be held in Florida with family and a memorial service will be scheduled in Connecticut at a later date.
