WALLINGFORD - Donald Lee White Sr., 78, of Wallingford, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Irene E. Gryga White.

He was born in Houlton, Maine, Feb. 24, 1935, a son of the late Frank and Margaret Graham White. Donald was a veteran of the Korean War, having served as a Master Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corps, Semper Fi. He had been employed by the Town of North Haven as a Superintendent of Public Works until his retirement and was a parishioner of Church of the Resurrection and a member of the North Italian Home Club of Meriden.

In addition to his wife, Irene, he is survived by his children, Linda Biestek and her husband, Mark, of Southington, Colleen Struwas and her husband, David, of Wallingford, and Donald L. White Jr., of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Marissa Marks and her husband, Paul, Danielle Ferrari and her husband, Anthony, Amanda Giaimo and her husband, Stephen, James Banack, Donald White III, and Taylor White; his great-grandchildren, Cody and Jake Marks; his brother, Arnold White, of Meriden; his sister, Jacqueline Gianotti, of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers; and two sisters.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday, March 5, from 4 until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated directly at Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
