WALLINGFORD - Dorothy Ann Caruth Hogan, of Wallingford, loving wife of Robert L. Hogan, passed away peacefully at home July 11, 2013.

Dorothy, daughter of the late Earl B. and Anna R. Caruth, was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on March 15, 1936. After relocating to North Haven in 1953, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Connecticut State Teachers College. She taught at various schools in Wallingford before settling into Dag Hammarskjold Middle School as a seventh-grade math and English teacher, where she taught for 27 years.
Besides her husband, Bob, she is survived by her daughter, Susan Becker; her son, Matthew Hogan, and his wife, Andrea; her four siblings, William E. Caruth, of North Haven, Virginia Hanson, and her husband, Jack, of New Jersey, Robert Caruth, and his wife, Mary Alice, of Wallingford, and her twin brother, Donald Caruth, and his wife, Patricia, of Wallingford; her four adored grandchildren, Marine Pfc. Daniel S. Becker, twin granddaughters Samantha A. and Shannon C. Becker, and Isabella Hogan, all of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a well-loved teacher, immaculate housekeeper, magnificent cook and baker, and an impeccable dresser. She also enjoyed her beautiful garden.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, from 9 to 10:45 a.m..
