WALLINGFORD - Eleanor Sabota Damm, 91, of Lake Street, Wallingford, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore J. Damm. She was the daughter of the late John B. Sabota and Katherine Szcerba Sabota. Eleanor was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Wallingford, a charter member of the Ladies Guild and a member of the Holy Rosary Society, and also assisted the Rev. John Rzasa, former Pastor in the church office. Eleanor was the recipient of the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation in 2005, given by the Most Rev. Henry J. Mansell, Archbishop of Hartford. An honor student throughout her schooling in Wallingford and studying at Quinnipiac, she worked for the Wallingford Welfare Department, the Tax Collector of Wallingford, the federal government during World War II, and the Connecticut Special Revenue Services.

She is survived by her beloved son, Theodore J. Damm; her granddaughter, Judith; and great-grandson, Isaiah, all of Meriden; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Marianne Lacy and David Lacey, of Wallingford, Richard Lacy, of East Haven, Karen (Steeves) Helland, of South Carolina, Dwight Steeves, of California, Richard and Patricia Steeves, of Guilford, Joan (Sabota) Gumkowski, of Wallingford. She is also survived by many grand and great-grand nieces; grandnephews; and her many loving friends and neighbors. She leaves her extended family, the Pierogi makers at SS. Peter and Paul Church, whom she worked with through her 89th year. She was predeceased by her three brothers infant, Walter, John Sabota, and Judge Francis Sabota; and her sisters, Victoria Lacy, Ann Bober and Mary Steeves.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Friday, Oct. 12, from 4 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, from The Wallingford Funeral Home at 10 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 139 North Orchard St, Wallingford, CT. 06492.
