WALLINGFORD - Ellio L. "Snake" Canalia, 85, beloved husband of Jean Buijnarowski Canalia, of Wallingford, died Saturday, Nov.r 9, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Born in Italy, September 4, 1928, a son of the late Antonio and Anetta Ronzani Canalia, he was a resident of Meriden for several years before moving to Wallingford many years ago. He had been employed by Allegheny-Ludlum Steel Corp. for many years until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.

Besides his wife, Jean, he is survived by his daughter, Donna M. Canalia Conklin and her husband, Peter, of Cheshire; his son, Ronald L. Canalia and his wife, Susan, of Wallingford; his grandson, Ronald J. Canalia, of Wallingford; his brothers, Luciano Canalia and his wife, Pamela, of Durham; and Virgilio Canalia of Meriden; his sister-in-law, Stella Buijnarowski Naughton and her husband, Bob, of Yalesville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucia Canalia, his brother, Lidio Canalia, and his sister-in-law, Yolanda Canalia.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will be in SS.
