WALLINGFORD - Harry J. Benigni, 83, of Wallingford, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the V.A. Medical Center in West Haven. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille Caruso Benigni.

He was born in Wallingford, Aug. 29, 1929, a son of the late Enrico and Hinda Benigni and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel for many years until his retirement.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Loretta Benigni, of Yalesville; his daughter, Robin Benigni, of Florida; his longtime companion, Marion P. Gawlak, of Wallingford; his grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers and one sister.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, May 28, , from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
