MERIDEN - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Irene M. Savino, 84, of Meriden on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Henry J. Savino.
Mrs. Savino was born on Oct. 22, 1927, in Meriden to the late Henry and Anna (Laude) Schumann and was raised by her loving aunt and uncle, Fred and Ruth Schumann. Irene enjoyed serving her community through a long career at the Meriden Chapter of the American Red Cross. After retirement her life centered on family and friends and she loved traveling with her husband. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Besides her husband of 65 years, Henry Savino, she leaves her son, Daniel Savino and wife, Lynn, of East Hartford; daughter, Debra Bauchman and husband, Roy, of Wallingford. Irene was blessed with and is survived by five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Savino; and siblings, Ruth Mascari, Doris Preller, Walter Schumann and Albert Laude.
Irene's family extends gratitude to Dr. Gary Tansino and his staff for their care and expertise extending her time with the family she so loved.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
