CHESHIRE - Iris Elaine (Brielman) Hecht, 89, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John Hecht.

Iris was born in Meriden, May 22, 1924, the only child of the late Harold and Mattie (Folce) Brielman. Iris was a member of the Turners Gymnastics team. A dancer, swimmer, and softball player on the International Silver Company team, where she worked as a secretary at Factory T. After marrying, she moved to Cheshire in 1946. She worked on the family poultry farm and managed an egg route for many years. Iris was also a Red Cross swimming instructor in Cheshire through the 50's and 60's, and performed in water ballet. In the 70's, Iris was a bookkeeper at her daughter's dance studio. Iris loved children, and animals, and being with her family and friends. Matthew Hecht and Marc Hecht, both of Congers, N.Y.; and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Caelia and Zoe.
