MERIDEN - James P. Santoni, 88, husband of Maria (Macri) Santoni, died on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Masonicare Health Center.

Born in Meriden on Dec. 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Fiorindo and Unarina (Bossardi) Santoni, and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Mr. Santoni was the owner of James P. Santoni Ceramic Tile and Marble Company since 1946. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Santoni was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he was a musician in the Meriden (Mount Carmel) Fife & Drum Corps. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Antique Veterans of Meriden, Post 1. He loved music, drumming and especially loved his family gatherings.
Besides his wife of sixty- six years, he is survived by two daughters, Bonita Kobrin and Patricia Ann Locke; two sons, Thomas F. Santoni and Michael J. Santoni; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Santoni; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter, Rina Watson; and by a son, James P. Santoni, Jr.
The funeral will begin on Friday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
