MERIDEN - James W. Vosgien, Sr., 82, husband of Barbarann "Bobbie" Kronenberger Grimes Vosgien for 57 years, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on June 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Lucien and Florence (Miramant) Vosgien. Mr. Vosgien had resided in Meriden and graduated from the Meriden High School, class of 1949. Jimmy was employed by Acme Fast Freight and Bailey's Express as dock hand and foreman until his retirement in 1993. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Marines Corp., with the rank of Staff Sargent. He was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church and a member of the North Italian Club.
Jimmy loved to veggie garden and fish. He did great at both. Also was an avid New York Yankee, Giants and Boston Celtic fan. The UCONN Women Basketball team were top notch with us and we always watched them together.

Besides his wife, whom he call Bob, he is survived by his children, Jaime Landry Sr., of Derry, N.H., Jodie Schmidt and her
husband, John, of Meriden and Keith Vosgien, of Paris, France; his grandchildren, Kevin Landry, Jr., and sweetheart Stephanie, of Hampstead, N.H., and Emily, Max and Isabella Schmidt, of Meriden and his great grandchildren, Mikayla and Kenzie, of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean Burdette and dear friend, Vincent Conte, of Moodus and Carole and Hank Stevens, of Nashua, N.H; his brothers, Donald and Evelyn Vosgien, of Middlefield and David and Marcia Vosgien, of Southington; a brother- in- law, Larry Cirillo, of Meriden; and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy is sadly missed by his beloved long haired dachshund, "LitlBit". He was predeceased by his infant son, James W. Vosgien, Jr.; infant twin sister, Lois Joan Vosgien; and his sister, Kathleen Vosgien Cirillo.
